For the past few months, I have been working on a small project close to my heart. I’m quietly pulling back the curtain on this ongoing multi-media documentary: 'The Wandering Martial Artist: A Study of the Way.'
Following up on yesterday’s big news, I wanted to share one way I am using my camera to truly ground myself right now. I’ve been stepping away from digital fantasy composites; instead, I recently found myself traveling through Southeast and Southern Asia, deciding then to focus entirely on raw, tangible real-world storytelling.
As a lifelong martial artist, this series is much more than a static photo gallery. I have been sitting down with these incredible practitioners, capturing their portraits as 'preservers' of their lineage, and filming them speaking about the quiet discipline, history, and vanishing philosophies of traditional martial arts.
The full project space is officially live on my website now:(https://www.tessaestudios.com/projects/martialarts — link in bio!). This is an active work-in-progress, and I cannot wait to start sharing the full video chapters with you soon.
Slide 1: Muay Thai — Thailand
Slide 2: Traditional master of Silat — Malaysia
Slide 3: A glimpse into the journey — Tai Chi in Singapore
I would love for you to check out my new project space and keep an eye on it as I update the story!
